Spirit Lake Health Center

Deb Hanson

LCSW, Supervisor

I believe that the philosophy of rural social work centers around a deeply rooted holistic work view, emphasizing the interconnectedness of individuals, families and communities. This includes empowering our individual and communities by recognizing their unique strengths, fostering resilience and advocating for social justice while addressing specific challenges related to geographical isolation, limited resources and strong social ties while respecting the inherent cultural values and identities of the community I serve.

Deb was born and raised in North Dakota. She was raised on a farm and learned how to drive a tractor and combine and an early age. She was married and raised a family on her and her husband’s family farm until she went back to university and got her masters in Clinical Social Work. Deb enjoys fishing with her husband and going for walks.
