Spirit Lake Tribe 401(k) Governmental Plan
All employees automatically receive 3% of their weekly gross wages as an Employer Profit Share contribution. Employees may elect a higher contribution at a higher percentage. The Tribe will match employee’s contribution up to 5% of their weekly gross wage.
Money can be withdrawn for pre-retirement, retirement, termination of employment, death, disability or financial hardship, subject to IRS tax rules. An employee can also roll over to an IRA or a new employer sponsored plan.
Employees can borrow up to 50% of their vested account balance & to a maximum of $50,000, subject to limits imposed by law. The minimum loan is $1000. Loans are repaid through payroll deduction & cannot be stopped until loans are paid in full. The maximum length of time for loan repayment is 5 years. Only 3 loans can be outstanding at any time.

Health, Dental and Vision Insurance
Upon completion of 60 days of employment, regular full-time employees are eligible for medical, dental and vision insurance.
- Employee only coverage paid 100% by the Tribe
- Employee plus dependent only coverage: employee pays difference via payroll deduction.
- Family (employee plus spouse and dependents) coverage: employee pays difference via payroll deduction.
COBRA is the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act health benefit provision. This law requires group health plans to provide continuation of health coverage due to termination of employment or reduction in hours for a cost to the employee.
Life/AD&D Insurance
Upon completion of 90-day probation, regular full-time employees are eligible for basic life insurance at $50,000 & accidental death and dismemberment insurance at $50,000, premiums paid by the Tribe.
Holidays
Regular full-time employees are paid 8 hours at their regular hourly rate for recognized holidays.
Annual and Sick Leave
Upon the completion of 90 days of employment regular full-time and part-time employees shall accrue prorated Annual Leave and Sick Leave based on continuous service.
Credit for military service
Employee must provide DD-214 for military credit.
Other Leave (based on employment status and/or years of service)
Extended Sick Leave, Maternity Leave, Bereavement Leave, Sundance Leave, Educational Leave.
Colonial Life and AFLAC
The Tribe offers payroll deduction to pay your premiums should you elect to sign up for this optional coverage.

Regular full-time employees with one year of continuous service may apply for financing, with payments re-paid through payroll deduction.
Employee Incentives/Awards/Miscellaneous Benefits
As determined by the HR Department based on budget availability, incentives/awards/etc may be given during designated HR activities, holidays, etc.
